Desert Adventures was founded in March of 1980 by a group of people who got together one night for dinner and found themselves discussing the need for an alternative and better way to meet people and socialize, other than the bars.  From that meeting arose Desert Adventures, an organization designed primarily to provide camping, hiking and other outdoor activities for members of our community.  Since then, Desert Adventures has expanded its activities to include other recreational activities as well such as tubing, cycling, pool parties, hot air ballooning, 4 wheeling, IMAX theater, plays, trips to zoos, museums, botanical gardens and many other activities.

• Camping - Desert Adventures organizes camping trips many times during the year. We usually plan trips closer to Phoenix during the cooler months and at higher elevations during the summer months.
• Hikes - Most hikes start and return on the same route. But it's interesting sometimes to make a big circle back to the starting point. That's a loop. The club also likes to do Park & Hiking for some longer trails. This is where the group will leave half of the hikers at the end point, carpool to the trail head, hike to the end point, and carpool back to the trailside.
• Social Events - Part of the benefit of being a member is you receive a discounted rate for most events but members also receive free admission to three of our members parties throughout the year. In addition we have member socials, pool parties, Special Dinners, BBQs and other social events.
• Outings - We also offer some different trips such as plays, tours, shopping trips to Mexico and other outings.
