Arcosanti is the a prototype for architect Paolo Soleri's vision of an arcology. The idea of an arcology is the combination of architecture and ecology, a concept first conceived by Paolo Soleri in the 1950s. Within this urban laboratory students of all ages and backgrounds have come to participate in workshops where they learn about the theories of Paolo Soleri and gain hands-on experience in a variety of fields such as construction, agriculture, archives, architecture and planning, facilities maintenance, or landscaping.
The Arcosanti Site Tour includes an explanation of Paolo Soleri’s urban design philosophy and an overview of the Arcosanti project.
A guide will walk you through Arcosanti to view and explain the unique buildings, visit the ceramic studio and bronze foundry, and offer insight to the community life.
Before the tour, some of us will be having a continental breakfast at the Arcosanti Café. The Café at Arcosanti is in the visitor center complex, featuring a spacious atrium dining area with a spectacular desert view. * This is a no-host Breakfast.
