Sage Loop spots 5 & 6 across the road from last year, even closer to the bus stop and shopping.
Hosts will be Jeff (flair) & Stan (cooking + important stuff). This year our Saturday evening theme will be “Mardi Gras” so dig out your favorite gold, green and purple leotard and bedazzle yourself for the festivities!
UPDATE: Hike added to Friday. Look below under Friday for more information.
You know we’ll do something classy.
FYI-If you are just joining us for dinner, be sure to book your accommodations early.
If you're new to Grand Canyon camping or RV'ing, there's plenty of room for tenters. Your friendly and well-mannered dogs are welcome and there are flush toilets and electricity in the bathrooms to charge your electronics. You can access Wi-Fi at the nearby general store that carries just about anything you'd need, plus they have a decent café if you don't ever want to cook!
There are many nearby RV spots within walking distance of our group campsite. If you have questions about booking an RV site, check out www.recreation.gov or call 877-444-6777. The closest hotel rooms are located at the Yavapai Lodge, 888-297-2757. Parking at our site has always been a challenge, and the park only allows six spots for our group. Stan and Jeff will need two of those since they're carrying lots of DA stuff and will need access. We recommend parking four walking minutes away at the showers/laundry/ice machine.
Thursday: we'll do a mixer starting at 5”ish”, we want everybody to know everybody, we'll be sharing and showing off our encampments, catching up with old friends and making the newbies feel welcome. This will also be the time where we will figure out what we're doing Friday, whether it be hikes, shopping, napping or some combination. We ask everybody to bring some kind of snacking food, and let's try to keep with our Mardi Gras theme, so logically that means Cayenne Pepper so be creative.
Friday: you're on your own--enjoy the park. There are great restaurants at the lodges, trails, shopping, and/or enjoy a quiet day with your new best friends & neighbors. UPDATE: Hike added on Friday. Click HERE for information.
Saturday: our community festival will begin roughly at 5pm and we’ll have provide southern comfortable adult beverage. As usual, we'd love everybody to bring a side or dessert to share; it just makes everything more fun. Make your selection on what to bring when registering if possible. And as is tradition, Stan will prepare a fabulous dinner out of his magic mess tent. It will rain, as last year the weather was just about perfect, so if you have pop up, bring it as we might need for shelter, and if we have enough of them, we'll ensure they won't be necessary.
The fee to get into the park is $30 per vehicle, unless you're a golden eagle.

After more than 2 years since application and the changing of hundreds of lights and light fixtures throughout the park, Grand Canyon has been certified "Dark Sky" and is only one of a handful of places where the natural sky is protected from artificial light pollution. Grand Canon is only the 12th National Park to earn that distinction.
