The Playground Group Site is located in the pines at 7,500 feet atop Mingus Mountain in the Prescott National Forest. The site is shaded by sycamore & located near many trails. The site has tables, grills, trash dumpster, vault toilet, is fenced in but does not have water.
Plan to arrive anytime after 1 pm on Friday, August 4th. The gate will be locked before that time. Drive in and pick a place to camp. Our campsite is near Jerome, Sedona & Prescott Valley. Check out time on Sunday is 11 am.
Coffee will be brewed each morning starting at 6 am. Please bring your favorite mug.
Get up close & personal with the hang gliders as they jump off the side of the mountain. A short hike will take you to the jump off point with panoramic views of the Verde Valley. You can sit 10 feet away from the hang gliders as they jump and soar out over the valley.
Remember to bring food, drinking water & firewood. Your well-behaved dogs are welcome.
Some things to do: Mingus lake is a short walk away and a little farther is a lookout from the side of the mountain where you can see the Verde Valley.
Things to know in advance: Quiet time is from 10 pm - 6 am. One power outlet is available for phone charging.
This camping event will go on rain or shine. We will have 2 large canopies in case of rain.
