Lewis Canyon Campground is located at 6,600 feet in a beautiful ponderosa pine setting with a large open field nearby. Wild turkey, elk and deer are often seen in the vicinity. The trailhead to the Juniper Ridge Trail #640 is located at the group campground. This trail is open to non-motorized vehicles, hikers, horses & mountain bicycles. The trail is a pleasant 14 mile loop through ponderosa pines, juniper and manzanita county. A shorter 7-mile loop trail is also marked.

You can arrive: anytime after noon on Thursday, May 20th. On Saturday, dinner will be served at 5 pm and will feature extra-lean burgers and grilled chicken. We gather around the eating area at 4 pm for appetizers. Please bring an appetizer to share. Side dishes & dessert will be provided. Homemade Limoncello & Apple pie Liqueur will be available each night. Check out time on Sunday is 11 am.
The site features: Picnic tables, fire rings, 4 large group barbecue grills, dumpsters, vault toilets, 2 sets of horseshoe pits & a baseball diamond with large backstop. There is no water on site but may be obtained at the Forest Service work center in Pinedale. Remember to bring food, drinking water, hiking gear and firewood. Your moderately behaved dogs are welcome.
Directions: Driving on AZ-260, turn S onto Pinedale Rd, (+34.317769, -110.247561). Drive through Pinedale and the covered bridge to the U.S. Forest Service work center, (+34.3053, -110.2465). Continue south 2.3 miles on Pinedale Road, which becomes Rim Road. Follow the signs to Lewis Canyon Group Site and turn right onto FR 130A, which goes directly to Lewis Canyon Group Campground (+34.285065, -110.240217).
Nearest full commercial services are 15 miles in Show Low.
