Lewis Canyon Campground is located at 6,600 feet in a beautiful ponderosa pine setting with a large open field nearby. Wild turkey, elk and deer are often seen in the vicinity. The trailhead to the Juniper Ridge Trail #640 is located at the group campground. This trail is open to non-motorized vehicles, hikers, horses & mountain bicycles. The trail is a pleasant 14 mile loop through ponderosa pines, juniper and manzanita. A shorter 7-mile loop trail is also marked.
You can arrive: anytime after noon on Thursday, August 10th. Check out time on Sunday is 11 am.
The site features: Picnic tables, fire rings, 4 large group barbecue grills, dumpster & modern vault toilets. The only water on site is non-potable & for drowning the fire. Remember to bring food, drinking water, hiking gear & firewood. Your moderately behaved dogs are welcome.
