Friday Hike with Scott and Monty

This trail starts at the end of Bullpen Rd and traverses beautiful thickets of trees and plants. The going is easy and the tempting sound of rushing water is on your right as you continue parallel to West Clear Creek. The trail will veer left up a rocky old service road until you reach an abandoned rock house. Veer right and descend into a grassy field and an old service zip line on your right. Follow the trail to the east about 200 feet to a trail down to Bull Pen the gem of West Clear Creek. There’s a rope swing and cliff jumping for the adventurous. This is easy 1.3 mile hike one way. There is no fee for this event but please register on the Desert Adventures website.

We will meet between 7:30 to 7:55 AM in the Home Depot parking lot at 35050 N North Valley Parkway Phoenix, AZ 85086 and then leave at 8:00 AM Sharp

Directions

• From Home Depot take I-17 north to General Crook Trail (Hwy 260) and turn right

• Head east on Hwy 260 to Camp Verde Main St. traffic signal

• Continue east on Hwy 260 (5.4 mi) to Rd 218, take a left

• Head north on Rd 218 (2.2 mi) and turn right on Rd 215

• Head east on Bull Pen Road (Rd 215) (3 mi) to end of road. Park by restroom

The road is not bad but a high clearance vehicle is recommended. On the way back to Phoenix we will stop for lunch at Camp Verde. We should be back to Home Depot by 4:00 PM.
