Forming the southern edge of the Colorado Plateau, the Mogollon Rim drops up to 2,000 feet in some areas for a breathtaking overlook of Arizona’s untamed wilderness. Outdoor recreation of all kinds is a favorite activity throughout the Rim, as it boasts part of the largest ponderosa pine forest in the world and some lakes that draw in an ever-expanding herd of elk. While the lakes and forest roads that wind throughout this amazing area draw in outdoorsman galore, the quieter hiking trails that weave deep into the wilderness also have plenty of their own appeal. Here are some of the best trails the Rim and its surrounding areas have to offer.
Important Information: Because this is dispersed camping, we will not know our final location until June 10. Registrants should plan on receiving the final location and direction on the evening of June 10 via e-mail. This is a Pack-it-in/Pack-it-out event. Registrants will be responsible for providing their food, water, and equipment, and hauling out all trash and waste.
